She has been going non stop since <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Nik</span> left in August. As always, it was unpredictable, fun and chaotic. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Caiden</span> was learning to ride his bike. It was too cute, after a couple of hours of helping him get started, he was speeding all over the place. He even figured out how to do the skid.<br /><br /><div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257059349862497666" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj3XH5WkplyAXJbrihU8ukukfFA8Np2Lsu7VNQJHKxARCipXPcXwOQ4WE4YMrToWaIta46Gb1bYTSCjG7wGZlfvVz2QkfTwBA1caUvxKz_S90V3-kvStsc5-69ETi1QF7XD7GC/s320/103_0312.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257059342320271410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4HH2SmuY-5tgeRdaoyPjLiVcxQGXd6kYQr3jKB82exd2kWoKw2QcYBTeTlY9Zxr-V72wPhHzKKECkk9WBQK07sqMosgs0WHdMhAD3x3dlgbZw8xFX_ORSRdFCp8DE_hovgsNH/s320/103_0311.jpg" border="0" /></div><br /><p>I went in to start some pizza and Lexi came in and said "Grandma, there's a bear out there and <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Caiden</span> is going by it!" Sure enough there were two little bears rummaging in someones garbage back at the end of the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">cul</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">de</span> sac in the pic above. So she will be mentoring with a fellow wolf lover.<br /><br />After searching high and low, a short email to an astronomy prof here in town led to Brandon getting involved with the Amateur Astronomy Club. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Ahh</span> star gazes on the beach with powerful telescopes and others who have loads of knowledge. After trying to find somewhere, anywhere that would allow a 12 yr old to volunteer with animals, we pretty much decided that it's hopeless. Then we thought, '<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">ok</span>, how about 4-H.' Well, if she wants to deal with animals, we'd have to drive to Milton because that's the closest and it's not close. Finally we came to the conclusion that she could just do her own 4-H projects and being in a residential area she had a choice between rabbits and a goat. We are in the county so a goat would be fine but I think we'd be in trouble with a cow or a pig. Anyway, next step, look on <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">freecycle</span> and maybe we'd get lucky. We DID get lucky, someone was looking for a home for three rabbits, cages and all accessories included! So she now has three bunnies.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5250862170882262658" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY3MZIKGgn987CkZeAvOpKFB7UDYd0AfuyKb6v3J_Y-nCq3k07Vp7KGsOXCF79og3Zi84LGVSQINLf4hoc-DRPZjY8UuPE3LXurhNG6rqJEShm4PllEme6-mRLQ2Ktm2C5IcOC/s320/bunny2.jpg" border="0" /> <div><div><div><br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5250862170068871538" style="DISPLAY: block; It was interesting but I think once is enough. I'll take the winds over what Texas got any day. Setting up a canopy in that is insane. After a trip to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Lowes</span> for dog ties and straps we finally got it set up, it took about 2 hours. The show started Sat and the winds were a little better, down to about 20 mph and by Sun it was back to hotness! Deb Tracey, the owner of <a href="http://www.angelsgardengifts.com/cart/index.html">Angel's Garden Gift Shop </a>has been putting on this show for 14 years. All proceeds go to Favor House, a domestic abuse shelter here in <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">P'cola</span>. She did an awesome job. It was really nice, live entertainment consisted of local musicians and dance <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">troups</span>. The attendees were great and I met some local women who get together for beading and more. <a href="http://www.hollyeqq.com/">One of them </a>dyes her own wool and spins the coolest yarn I've ever seen. She teaches a class on spinning at <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.belmontartscenter.com">Belmont</a> and I really really want to learn how to do that! It was a fun, exhausting and profitable weekend.<br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247554940715881378" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwMy6thuEV6mv0FIQQzizWu4sGeQxe8Ta67odnlzHH0xXAehXam_jhFKPJyrleiyJt6wM3-3Tq_3H8zcjLGgtPjT8vTCfBfbv8327L9MTxrOfVZ2BeyU2gBvEuPszJCK-fYiPO/s320/103_0132.jpg" border="0" /></p><br /><p></p><br /><p></p><br /><p></p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247555507920157106" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPHCTp3tzPXuyIx_VogO98EidF2R6m-F0LOsX8mGVgps6JuoGwQxfn28nLHAGkUJRsQtpgAyHBu-7t9cX5HdAkgWfxlynqaZv3s6zw-peOdZnIXQG8K7f-y4y0gXrRiKfJ1Pck/s320/103_0133.jpg" border="0" /><br /><p></p><br /><p align="center">This is what B did Sat morning.<br /></p><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><a href="http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/special_reports/stories/2008/wind_disaster/wind_disaster.html">Hurricane Ike went to Ohio</a>, trees fell on houses, cars and in the roadways; power was cut off to something like 2 million people and some of them still don't have their power back yet. I still can't believe I made it this far. As you all know, Aaron decided to move to Orlando for 5 months and now.......now Brandon has a job! He isn't old enough to have a job, I know because I was there when he was born, couldn't have been more than 9 or ten yrs ago. Even though he's still that 10 yr old in my mind, he insisted on having a job so that he can buy that 700 dollar telescope he's had his eye on. So he got dressed up and I dropped him off at the interview at Mickey D's. Same place, btw, that Aaron worked at before Orlando came into the picture. He came out smiling and happy that he got a date with the orientation session. The interviewer talked more about Aaron than Brandon and that was fine with Bran because he was stressing about answering too many questions. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5244601024784929442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy23mEhstEpaFMHQ0MhpiFF0xrn31Xdw-isnhXWEWh142CQqBPEBrEoanTxjYLi0f85k2jfrnD5Lm4qJXtPBGy5gGfV7iFivWmZWFDYVjO086GJxc7YHH2AvPfWMf1xNH3BeES/s320/103_0085.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br />All I can conclude out of that was that unschooled Aaron, that kid who slept all hours of the day and would never never know how to get along if he actually HAD to get up in time for work, or have a clue how to do what was expected out of him at work because he wasn't made to do chores must have done ok there, huh? Oh and just to set you moms at ease who have teens that sleep all day, he now gets up and gets himself to work on time at Disney by 5:30 am and even has to ride the bus to get there.<br /><br />I got sidetracked there, back to the subject I started with. Tori decided to sleep in her own room a couple of months ago and is still there! So to those who told me she would never sleep in her own room I say....really? I miss her, the bed is too big and I still stay on my own side, all night. It's weird not having legs or arms on me and I had to get another blanket because it's cold by myself. Koda, the traitor, used to sleep with me but where Tori goes he must follow so there you have it.<br /><br />My house is really quiet and even though I remember wishing I had some peace and alone time I don't really want it. I want my chaotic funny farm back.LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-23221093701478325772008-08-29T12:38:00.004-04:002008-08-30T12:21:12.548-04:00Aaron's Disney Adventure BeginsSunday, amid Tropical Storm Fay, we headed out to Orlando with Yahoo Map in hand. Aside from torrential rains in Tallahassee it was a pretty easy drive and I didn't get lost once.....that day. <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Tallahassee</span> had some serious flooding, there was water halfway up the trees on the sides of I-10. Somehow it mostly missed Pensacola but there were several large tree branches in my yard when we got back home so maybe we just got out of town in time.<br /><br /><br /><div><div><div></div><div>The hotel charged my bank card twice for the room charge and the bank didn't credit it back until after we got home, that definitely put a damper on things while we were there. Aside from that and the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">sucky</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">internet</span> service, the hotel was about five minutes from where we needed to be so things weren't all bad. </div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240343436397467186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgildIMawfq47sGD-h9jiNz3PnQJrIEhApI5RXuDB3wDqp_mG0ivtI_MtRWCqjGICQFC7TecEO5Vp7sy3Hr-nF2YlWwaSzOYtdA9sS28XCuCOeNH3nGxGcA0YB1g_ReutVupawQ/s320/101_1178.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240343430991502610" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI8t0jw2eBdidA9A_mVu6bT96imSmn0WWWpwOMLpwz2isgvHiFORTu_78JM8F2-NM4A_-keCJgOFY7O1KBtoCmswpQXmKC5IggVGbGPNfrndlJvYtRhFf31QFWzM6s-O1R2GFa/s320/102_1181.jpg" border="0" /> Hanging Out at the Hotel<br /><br /><div></div><div>Day one, check in time. There were tons of people there and Disney had it all very well organized. They stole our children and made all of us to to another spot where 'parent' things were set up. The kids went through an assembly line to get checked in, housing choices were settled and background checks were done. At the parent zone, you could listen to speakers giving information on what to expect, sign your new 'cast member' up for direct deposit and grab a bottle of water or coffee. Water was definitely needed, it is <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">freakin</span> hot in Orlando! Pensacola feels nice and cool after being down there. Tori would straighten her hair and by the time she got to the van from the room it would be all curly again. The heat is draining and we were all pretty much exhausted the entire time.</div><br /><div>Next we were off to drop Aaron off at the housing meeting and got very very lost. Somehow I made it back to where we needed to be in time and Aaron went in to learn what to do and not to do in his new apartment. After the meeting it was time to check out his new digs and move in. He landed a one bedroom in <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Chatham</span> Square with one roommate. The apartment complexes are all gated and you must have ID to get past the gate. It's really secure and made me feel much better. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240343762507972786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjICFGzyg5DfgZ2ROcjpmR89G40nyRmjF3En2n6ynkFAz3qwJiZv0aJf_hiuawai-D5CCblR4rFIDQ6huo877O3WHtyofjm9PeCCsmjbTkDoMGAUmP1NjnWALGEZ76EmpcUTB8T/s320/102_1186.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240343440430163490" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOfO3p9yqZExaO5CoiQQg-p18IBl3iq8cnJQT-zsLQmDw8i9U-ms-YsThQ0IV05Ksmb-Y9THaD1GV10kCnnTUvuCZNxBgNp_fm3-nOYfC0Dv_mbyfc7j1qaXxBR8G1D8J-PY0o/s320/102_1183.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240343764231408178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1qpfn4k7uEYV37ReOADTrEpDkQeNrjttdSyziOgVSJ8qoTtoI-8GTdu2H-MwcjTX_Xw6eAaqp5kqQRhUGfifG7IHtiQqMN33MwJ4eOOaxblyVLNvDr_XvXltb8ieM7tsayC2k/s320/102_1185.jpg" border="0" />We moved his stuff in and headed out to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">gorcery</span> shop. We loaded up on canned goods, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, apples and <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">ramen</span> noodles. Oh and cereal, lots of cereal. Aaron found <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">wasabi</span> beans and was <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">extremely</span> happy. Brandon tried to steal them but he failed. The apartment has a dishwasher which we have never had so Aaron had no clue what the dishwasher tablets were for. Too funny. By that time we were exhausted and went to find food. Hint: take food with you, everything, and I mean everything is expensive when you are staying that close to Disney. Aaron stayed at he hotel with us until the day we left.</div><br /><div>Day two, time to find out where they would all be working. It's the luck of the draw. They go through a line and are given the next sticker in their category on the extremely long list of stickers and that is where they will be working. They are not employees, they are cast members and they don't have a job, they have a role in the show. Aaron will be at the All Star Music Resort during his stay. He was happy with it, it's inside, in air conditioning. Much better than outside in the heat all day. After that was taken care of he had the rest of the day free so we wandered around the gift shops in Orlando. Tori was mortified at the alligator heads and dead baby sharks in little glass jars that were being sold. I thought she was going to stage a protest. Needless to say, the people who sell these are on her shit list. </div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240343424884025634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJYCXyqCDruwuekU3vog6k10nCJuJOnt3iYbpMzpQK-W4bDk-IKYbUG6qJ7-_ou86LykpdRN3gjZr0qgDQQ9v_IWe9wgdn_vegQFXiFmSEsCC2ev9lVJChif8KrmQ1N9zpetd3/s320/101_1171.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>Day three, Aaron had to be at 'Traditions', where they learn the history of Disney, talk about work ethics and generally get them psyched for their stay. We waited around with him at is place until it was time for him to catch the bus. He walked around to the bus stop and as we drove through the gate Brandon snapped this shot of Aaron, not looking at all like Aaron.</div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240344481505386802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjR_Kktkxwl-TrdpsjwVIrzOMvwH-hOPEQO1ptVCPMOKtcQ2-yBYtV0Ndap8lu7MIbBvZl2QauRQnJGgH6ZLp437mHcbyoiYu9Hrd6fgc6XHecriZUWKv-oGl6QI7g5MhZD3kL/s320/abus.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>Brandon and Tori are sad, Molly keeps sleeping on Aaron's bed and I keep finding ferrets wandering <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">around</span> the house now that Tori is taking care of them. I can tell you that you never get used to children leaving home. I go into denial and tell myself that they will be back, seems to work long enough to figure out a new routine. A lot of the parent talk around there was about how happy they were that their 18 yr old was finally out of the house, I think they're all crazy.</div><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-64195723412123533252008-08-03T15:04:00.011-04:002008-08-12T01:08:31.762-04:00Updates and All ThatI have been gone for quite awhile because life just took all of my time. Well, it still does but I'm here for a quick update for anyone who still bothers to read here.<br /><br /><div><div><div><div><div>It's been a crazy summer and I'm happy that it's almost over, the heat is ridiculous. My tomatoes did really well this year. I experimented with taking most of the leaves off the plants and got tons of tomatoes. I still haven't figured out how to get that second harvest though. Seems like I get one and then they just stop producing. Ah well, someday. </div><br /><div>My yard is full of weeds again but hey, it's green and covered. Tori has a problem with weed killers so we tried some non toxic recipes but the weeds here in P'cola laughed at them. I pull them every once in awhile but really don't have the time to keep up. </div><br /><div>The <a href="http://gatheringwoolonline.com/">business</a> is going great! Tori, Brandon and I have been at lots of festivals and farmers markets. I'm actually showing a profit after three months! Yay. It takes a lot of time but at least it's something I love. Someday soon here, I'll be updating my website so make sure you check it out. A lot of the stuff on there has sold and I have tons of new stuff to add. I still have some ideas floating around that I really need to try out too.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Chico had a heart attack a few weeks ago and we took an emergency trip to Ohio. He's home now and doing good. Looks like he'll be good as new in a couple of months. Scary stuff. Even though his attack wasn't caused by his diet, looks like his love of greasy foods are in the past.......mostly. Exercise people, eat healthy and keep that state of mind young!</div><br /><div>Tori came down with a case of the <a href="http://www.shinglesinfo.com/what-is-shingles.html?WT.srch=1&WT.mc_id=SH03Y">shingles</a>. It is quite painful and the rash looks really nasty. If anyone wants chicken pox, you're welcome to come and visit. She is contagious. She is into the <a href="http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilightseries.html">Twilight series </a>and always has her nose in a book. It has taken some getting used to, seeing this girl who never reads turn into a bookworm. </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Aaron is getting ready to go to <a href="http://disney.go.com/disneycareers/careerstart/index.html">Disney</a> in a few weeks. We'll be driving him there and helping him to settle in. I'm not too sure how I feel about it all but it is a great opportunity for him and I think he'll have a fabulous time. We're working on his list of things to pack. </div><br /><div>A new dojo opened up a couple of blocks away and Brandon really wants to get back into martial arts. He'll be trying out one of their classes to see if it's a good fit. It's full contact and we all know how Brandon likes flirting with danger. He has been applying for jobs, cross your fingers for him.</div><br /><div>Cody had a lump on his eyebrow, scared us all badly, it turned out to be a benign tumor. They removed it and now he has a sexy little scar that the chicks will love.....according to him.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230387049504157410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHHEzBUsnsfYaA2uUZxIkEp7WUiBgTILtXM5dtS9lUXdzAokqNovJAMGlCihakRr36e2OmcI_Mbk9YWFf8Z6SXQMHYUCH1rjbNCIsCMhXWo3qu2qpia2QEOH4pDUcRVYE5k_WX/s320/05-30-08_1538.jpg" border="0" /></div><div></div><div>And look how big he and Nicky are.....I am soooooo getting old.</div><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230387055806833026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMNOaQAvdwDInb15LxF1OfmleEHfRcJ-C3V5ppR5rMvzNxewe95fGCoXWRv2PmuuoHINGF2PhykHZbGzk8sEqzGvYzZjxT5fShW5M_A-X0AieVzjBvfp6LhooeD2-0LmcUsiis/s320/05-28-08_1656.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>Erica and family are still in Vegas and I miss them terribly. It would be awesome to get a visit from them.</div><br /><div>Nik is back overseas until Nov. Send him good thoughts to keep him safe. Send them to Carrie too while she single handedly takes care of five kids and an in home day care. Whew.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Some needle felted art that I did. I haven't had a favorite since Kellie Pickler in season 5. This year Jason Castro was definitely my favorite. I didn't want him to win because the idol machine would ruin him but I was glad to see him stay as long as he did. Aside from his music which I love and his laid back attitude, I couldn't put my finger on what it was about him that I liked so much. <a href="http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/05/are-you-a-david.html">Andrew Sullivan </a>fom the Daily Dish has done it for me.<br /><br /><em>"his sweet-eyed nonchalance, his obvious ambivalence to the commercial cheesiness of the show, his indifference to the cult of celebrity and vanity and ambition that Idol represents. He actually seemed comfortable being himself. He didn't need this shebang. And to see that personal security on network television - a walking (well, meandering) rebuke to the need for external validation and celebrity culture - evoked pure wonder. I was smitten."</em><br /><br />And this:<br /><br /><em>"Between Jason Castro and David Archuleta, you see two ways of living in the world: one sacrificed to external recognition and one indifferent to it. We all have a bit of each in us in this tabloid, celebrified world. But Jason, to my mind, will probably live a much happier life. And he'll know, at some level, why. There's a lesson in there somewhere - even on a reality show."</em><br /><br />I'd be willing to bet that his parents have a bit of unschooling and respectful parenting philosophies in their souls.<br /><br />Listen to Jason's Hallelujah.<br /><object height="355" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uOO42KnL0lM&hl=en"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uOO42KnL0lM&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-80812969752942506322008-04-25T00:10:00.003-04:002008-04-25T00:17:42.932-04:00ECUA OK's recyclingCan you believe it??? Am I still in Pensacola? That was the headline in the paper and I think I'm awake.<br /><br />"A voluntary curbside recycling program that also provides twice-a-week household trash collection was unanimously approved Thursday by the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority."<br /><br />We drive ours right now to the drop off site and it's rarely full so I have to wonder how many people will take them up on this. There are already arguments in the comment sections of the newspaper. Figures. The bad thing is it doesn't include the city of Pensacola yet, just county residents but hey, it's a start, and I'm in the county so where do I get my new can? I'll actually have my office back...no big bins full of recycle sitting in there. The day was nice and sunny and the crowd was just as nice. Wednesday, before Earth Day, you know...the week I was trying to get things finished up and ready for my debut.....<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Caiden</span> came down with the Chicken Pox which apparently he contracted from the immunization (which I think is lame but he's not my child so I have no say.) He had a fever, headache and just a few spots but he was a pretty miserable child during his stay here. He stayed because he wasn't ready to give up his time at grandmas over a measly childhood <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">disease</span> and we had a good time, ate lots of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">popsicles</span> and got everything ready and actually made it to the Earth Day celebration in time.<br /><div><div>I had a lot of sales and got lots and lots of contacts for the future. I was totally exhausted, beat up, mentally and physically but after a good nights rest I now need to felt more soap because by noon I had signed up for another. We'll be at the Old Spanish Trail Festival in <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Crestview</span> in two weeks. Yeah, I'm a bit nuts, figured I might as well put myself over the edge so I'm looking for more.</div><div></div><div>Tori got a shirt that fits her well. It says "Tree hugging dirt worshipper".</div><br /><div>Pictures of the booth.</div><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5191545185550706754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipYg0bbY_ewnQn4Ko8ZRsaukxzsZXX31FwrQBmd8cyW57T1FlN356Rudo-Ot94COtnatFf8fOdspJXdoiKU-wVh-GMRgjPOzGaO_ENjaCOQS-qvwdwS1kuZ8_GT1fbx1YUvWH5/s320/101_0142.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5191545194140641378" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwFMYydBOP47uarrfuo-nSYM3CMAbwItnI1zS4v7NMy4Zc6ah9SfajzM3ELvqGZSD3jGfAUeFMQCRJuDBGtsTGMnuIhKJduCvO5BKHc7N6TE6kNbwOGpIlBieHwoMElTEzzOwE/s320/101_0144.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5191545189845674066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgokZiBKqsVWA8BoxIi6XcXRM_APpp9aCI5yWb9BQdQonR6h2gvm_1NaaAQVJ90CmeUbikvkEptJp7FnZ7oMm7XWq0ouY3y8A5SRvBCFIWgYD-UhqHG3ATl0VLRlA7pziRIda7V/s320/101_0143.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5191545443248744562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf4u83iP7D8IYr6w0otSxxt1yMlswWvqwIUsA3JSS-qoC-P3NzMfqefy3Egvjnvf-8IPPUDPsHJRi2QpAyQFnb2dgCyvL-UkVwrBO7tdM670ISdcOoYs57ljkoblX53Feri751/s320/101_0146.JPG" border="0" /></div></div>LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-55674346207538241262008-04-14T21:59:00.002-04:002008-04-15T00:38:53.817-04:00Disney, Earth Day and TomatoesAaron got his acceptance letter from the <a href="http://disney.go.com/disneycareers/careerstart/index.html">Disney Career Start Program </a>for the fall. He'll be working and learning at Disney for 7 months. It sounds like a great program and we're all excited for him. He will be missed a lot but we'll go visit him often.....and he can get us in the parks for free!<br /><br />My first show with my <a href="http://gatheringwoolonline.com/">felted art handbags </a>is this Sat at Pensacola's <a href="http://earthdaypensacola.org/">Earth Day </a>Celebration. If you're in Pensacola make sure you come by. I have spent the past 3 months creating and I'm really getting excited about this. I have many plans for my stuff after that but for now I'm concentrating on the show. My two small grandkids are staying and 'helping' me this week. Should make things interesting.<br /><br />The tomato plants with flowers! They're doing really well so far. I've found that by pinching off almost all of the new sprouts and lower leaves that the flowers are much more abundant. Hopefully the tomatoes will be too. <br /><br />I've been too busy for pictures and for this blog for that matter but I'll take some this weekend and post them next week sometime.<br /><br />Wish me luck!LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-31337369444995606572008-02-14T22:58:00.011-05:002008-02-15T00:52:47.738-05:00Birthday Cakes, Cows, Wool, Birds and ButtonsI have been slacking here a lot but I've been extremely busy so I'll try to catch up a bit. Tori had a birthday the other day and I was too lazy to make the cake so she got these.<br /><br /><br /><div><div align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167079957273636994" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhITqy9oGhvGyheyGPdxNBHa8aybtRzDsXlDvmKHvtiMLZH_FpCc51xYW75SvtO7h2DzTu3YFxTpiGKJ6WiwnhZHZB7HONmh2OqMehTipawX-CEVZrMh0mG3cecHjyktaMuePrr/s320/tbd.jpg" border="0" /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYJPTZ5vCFHQ2_wdY65p_80sa0odPdz3F1QWH2ch-oV_o61Dp-nDdG3vyeOV_b9dNwT45VnFCY0I99q0RpyjjpcTCQqTaWZVwOvYUAGPyftguEZiP40ST5Jjlo9welcfS98O9p/s1600-h/tbdcake.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167066161838682162" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYJPTZ5vCFHQ2_wdY65p_80sa0odPdz3F1QWH2ch-oV_o61Dp-nDdG3vyeOV_b9dNwT45VnFCY0I99q0RpyjjpcTCQqTaWZVwOvYUAGPyftguEZiP40ST5Jjlo9welcfS98O9p/s320/tbdcake.jpg" border="0" /></a></div><br /><br />Hard to believe that she's 12 now!<br /><br /><br />Today the little girl next door was over and wanted Brandon to dress up in a cow costume. Well, he's a sucker for little kids so of course he did it. That wasn't enough for Savannah, she wanted him to skateboard out front with the costume on. The thing that got me was how he just did it, not worrying about what anyone would think. He wasn't worried about looking uncool, he was just being himself. Must be all of that peer pressure he's 'missing' from not being in school. Ya think?<br />He did look pretty funny though so we have to share.<br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxgeoQWwXzkbzWf_IbrZknqtnQVnmCng5Sq0HSjeVvdwb-x5ft1ch4PA-_lLZTCOWLXKxDXsL3QAnE' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br /><br />I think spring is right around the corner. There were a thousand birds and squirrels in my backyard yesterday. They were feasting on the acorns that fell like crazy last fall. It was 72 here Tuesday, 37 Wednesday and about 55 today. The weather is killing me. C'mon spring!<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5167071234195058786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmGm9-dA6hCLb_3W0hyphenhyphencQGxGxRHUivIl0jKebFfNJatGlg7SufNA3CQlwxCsj3z8SAt9H5GBxPSgG8tABl6g4VBwKi4udzyMUJ9RKVOukK2d-bX0gR97w70Im-qIGiPRKWjVSa/s320/birds.jpg" border="0" /><br />Koda would have had a field day if he was out there. In the meantime I thought I'd try some real felt making. It was fun and easy and it turned out great! Tomorrow when it dries, I'll turn it into something or other. I tried to post it on thing-a-day but I gave up. First we payed a visit to "Tin Tin's Oriental Foods" store down the street from us. It works something like netflix only with books! If you read them like candy and don't really want to buy them check out <a href="http://www.booksfree.com/">booksfree.com</a>.<br /><br /><br />A quote from the last book I read, (last night) The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans.<br /><br />"A lot of these things you can't really teach. All you can do is create a situation where if people want to learn they can. The best teachers I ever met were the horses themselves. You find a lot of folk have opinions, but if it's facts you want you're better off going to the horse."<br /><br />You could apply that quote to pretty much anything.LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-8915151094251038162007-10-28T21:40:00.000-05:002007-10-28T21:57:20.194-05:00Cool VideoSaw this on another blog and had to post it. <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3BKXi6OhhhY&rel=" width="425" height="355" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"></embed>LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-77847540367834546122007-10-23T20:22:00.000-04:002007-10-23T20:30:23.330-04:00Brandon After Visiting Ren & Fam<p align="center">When you send your kid to the <a href="http://radicalunschooling.blogspot.com/">Allens</a> for two weeks, you never know what's going to happen.</p><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEsV9evRNTjxoDsG_yNIZLUa3ua3sAiuNXw2vSyxoaQ0686wH_6b-tzuZlqgu6rc0mRR-LiKYT471LyIHmu3edyUw425oMW8ZlGDwaMMpGRoIXOAohiOZ39qlfGe-bvgZ3M352/s1600-h/100_8259.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5124692756556750066" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEsV9evRNTjxoDsG_yNIZLUa3ua3sAiuNXw2vSyxoaQ0686wH_6b-tzuZlqgu6rc0mRR-LiKYT471LyIHmu3edyUw425oMW8ZlGDwaMMpGRoIXOAohiOZ39qlfGe-bvgZ3M352/s320/100_8259.jpg" border="0" /></a></p>LeaAnnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02615283092603120297noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16046396.post-39779117706036215362007-10-23T12:26:00.000-04:002007-10-23T12:35:17.017-04:00Fair Time<div>We went to the Pensacola Fair last night only because we had free tickets. There was a Wild Frontier thingy with Timber Wolves and Tori wanted to see them. Well, this is Pensacola and since it had rained they called off the show and we could only see them in their cage. Probably a good thing because if they made them do tricks Tori would have been very upset. They are beautiful. We stood outside the cage and they watched us. Tori and Aaron started jumping up and down and one of them copied them every time. I didn't get any good pictures, their eyes glow in the flash but it was cute.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Tori did make out on a water game with two huskies. (wolves to her) It was a slow night and she was being used to draw more players. I started working on this back in Feb and by July it was looking pretty good but now it is loaded with weeds again. It was a long slow process (especially in a drought) and it's hard enough to grow grass around here but the weed pulling is a full time job. I don't want to use weed killer because the runoff goes into my backyard and I have grandkids that play out there. I'll just keep pulling here and there and see what happens in the spring. Any suggestions?</div><br /><br /><div align="left"></div><div align="left">February<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYnuY8C56vwHVHa9DUue3u2Dt2g_LtNsKm2mFvfTVxGjqTiwHBEV76UtGbFwwcC_Pmz81vBG2qEdFuxxUM-sgFI8b1emdpjUJTptPUQ_83YB_epaEkDm2Ggl_uILUrBvsrfdRS/s1600-h/100_2051.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5083584002267784578" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYnuY8C56vwHVHa9DUue3u2Dt2g_LtNsKm2mFvfTVxGjqTiwHBEV76UtGbFwwcC_Pmz81vBG2qEdFuxxUM-sgFI8b1emdpjUJTptPUQ_83YB_epaEkDm2Ggl_uILUrBvsrfdRS/s320/100_2051.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div><br /><br />March<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsKM4lESI4-43-sjjutQFmbIj5pW_zcB2BmLEptdHNWb1I_Y7tDE8Bd4iV2oFwPK47O8R9exXbFPbg1OMeKJHeljjbtI0GtXCy_0tYNbughwHOGbFhkbzbjbO7y7LlUh_3ZK8U/s1600-h/100_2610.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5083584010857719186" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsKM4lESI4-43-sjjutQFmbIj5pW_zcB2BmLEptdHNWb1I_Y7tDE8Bd4iV2oFwPK47O8R9exXbFPbg1OMeKJHeljjbtI0GtXCy_0tYNbughwHOGbFhkbzbjbO7y7LlUh_3ZK8U/s320/100_2610.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />April<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjftZtyVSWbhO4leSObCFk2QYoURBKffgl975kWj8t3f4VjDzCQ9BhXULLjLGOOcmPDF596XUYru8wIWBNESP15giRRjS4EZOr0Cmxg1V33iT0Curu5mOZXxV2Dnvz6F1nXxJGF/s1600-h/100_2970.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5083584019447653794" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjftZtyVSWbhO4leSObCFk2QYoURBKffgl975kWj8t3f4VjDzCQ9BhXULLjLGOOcmPDF596XUYru8wIWBNESP15giRRjS4EZOr0Cmxg1V33iT0Curu5mOZXxV2Dnvz6F1nXxJGF/s320/100_2970.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />May<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1vPCqy1C3Ydl0YWWUmNuROvDKzpPFWIpNwtyCcysamFvZq9iL4pIpPiSMZqgRWoLWo9yxcLO0weacd466S0Oqn4ZJmJsuD5iP80v1AZLHnBflEVZnfVY0JufG1_BTLBerUz-G/s1600-h/100_4248.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5083584036627522994" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1vPCqy1C3Ydl0YWWUmNuROvDKzpPFWIpNwtyCcysamFvZq9iL4pIpPiSMZqgRWoLWo9yxcLO0weacd466S0Oqn4ZJmJsuD5iP80v1AZLHnBflEVZnfVY0JufG1_BTLBerUz-G/s320/100_4248.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />June<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgus6lC3Z7K2fm5YFIwH51t1Of3M3OezPoqujNGC5eFqSfRzXeX8heVo9zRI3rX3_dwzdRLcHHwajW6kQE1NMb50Po_uGwDTrtpdP5mA517XWMfLhqn74x5JTBcUQmD7NwTi-D3/s1600-h/100_4396.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5083584045217457602" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgus6lC3Z7K2fm5YFIwH51t1Of3M3OezPoqujNGC5eFqSfRzXeX8heVo9zRI3rX3_dwzdRLcHHwajW6kQE1NMb50Po_uGwDTrtpdP5mA517XWMfLhqn74x5JTBcUQmD7NwTi-D3/s320/100_4396.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />July<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOePBjP8BNhzoEaJaF18OzJve5foSBa8wN5nQn1tu1gX-CElzbbSu25d25lcxRXHF2n5mikKKJXZ-9Ar6sztwSefYt2N8paaQvyozn_BZqnr_37RKALdU2Wucdh9ZKWiklk2Hb/s1600-h/100_4835.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5083584573498435026" style="CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOePBjP8BNhzoEaJaF18OzJve5foSBa8wN5nQn1tu1gX-CElzbbSu25d25lcxRXHF2n5mikKKJXZ-9Ar6sztwSefYt2N8paaQvyozn_BZqnr_37RKALdU2Wucdh9ZKWiklk2Hb/s320/100_4835.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br />I have been trying to find native plants to put in various places.
