Grandma Brag

Cody's awesome solo in his school Christmas Program. I videoed it sideways......don't ever do that. Aaron finally found a way to rotate it but it was a pain. Enjoy!

Grandkids, Bears and Bikes

We hung out with the grandkids so Carrie could get a little break. She has been going non stop since Nik left in August. As always, it was unpredictable, fun and chaotic. Caiden was learning to ride his bike. It was too cute, after a couple of hours of helping him get started, he was speeding all over the place. He even figured out how to do the skid.

I went in to start some pizza and Lexi came in and said "Grandma, there's a bear out there and Caiden is going by it!" What??? She insisted and we thought we better check it out. Sure enough there were two little bears rummaging in someones garbage back at the end of the cul de sac in the pic above. Nicky and Brandon watched it for awhile with me freaking out because they were too close. I took the camera out and told Nicky to get a picture. He didn't tell me that they had left, he just said ok and went off looking for them. He followed them through the woods a bit and got a few shots. They aren't very clear but you get the idea.

It was definitely more exciting then my backyard! Later Brandon, Cody and Brayden played on the piano for awhile, Caiden found a book and Lexi danced to the piano music.

Fun!!!

Stars Aligning and All That

Tori lucked into a volunteer/ apprenticeship position. She'll be bathing, comforting, playing with dogs and cats and all around gophering at a grooming shop right down the street. The owner offered to teach her grooming! A plus is there are wolf pictures on the walls in the shop. So she will be mentoring with a fellow wolf lover.

After searching high and low, a short email to an astronomy prof here in town led to Brandon getting involved with the Amateur Astronomy Club. Ahh star gazes on the beach with powerful telescopes and others who have loads of knowledge. What more could you ask for.

Sometimes things just fall into place.

Tori's Menagerie

Tori has acquired not one, not two but three rabbits. After trying to find somewhere, anywhere that would allow a 12 yr old to volunteer with animals, we pretty much decided that it's hopeless. Then we thought, 'ok, how about 4-H.' Well, if she wants to deal with animals, we'd have to drive to Milton because that's the closest and it's not close. Finally we came to the conclusion that she could just do her own 4-H projects and being in a residential area she had a choice between rabbits and a goat. We are in the county so a goat would be fine but I think we'd be in trouble with a cow or a pig. Anyway, next step, look on freecycle and maybe we'd get lucky. We DID get lucky, someone was looking for a home for three rabbits, cages and all accessories included! So she now has three bunnies.

Along with two ferrets, one is actually Aaron's but since he is gone Tori has taken her in.

Two fish.

...and two dogs.

We did find that the Humane Society would let her participate in their doggy bathe in fundraiser so she spent the morning bathing dogs of all sizes.
