Perfect Beach Day

The weather today was perfect for the beach. It was in the high 70's and with the slight breeze down by the water it was comfortable. People think I'm crazy in the summer when I say it's too hot for the beach but it is! 95 degrees, a relentless sun pounding down on you and swimming with jellyfish isn't fun. Today was great!

Brandon found a great dropoff to practice back tucks.

Tori spent a few hours saving the sea slugs that were being washed ashore. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves and after taking time out to eat our homemade pizza everybody was gone. Then we got to explore. We found a sand castle someone had built,

a natural lawn chair a bit further down

and tons of shells.

The kids tried to make a waterfall and a pond for it to fall into but the sand kept soaking up the water before it could make it all the way down. If we would have had more buckets and people to pour I bet we could have gotten it to work. Of course someone had to get buried before we could leave.

I tried to get a good shot of this heron but I couldn't get close enough. My camera has 'close up' but it doesn't do much as far as I can tell. Anyway, Chico played with it and came up with this. It was a nice day.
